Spa Success: Reflections on 2018 – Lydia Sarfati

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season!  If you are like me, I like to take this time to reflect on the past year and to set my intentions in order to look forward to all the New Year brings.  For this blog, I’d like to share some of these reflections. 

First and foremost, I’d like to express my gratitude to you, my family, friends, and business colleagues, who have journeyed with Repêchage® to make 2018 an outstanding and successful year! 

This year brought several major professional and retail product launches and many prestigious awards. It is truly an honor for Repêchage® to provide the finest professional skin care, education and keys to growth to businesses and estheticians around the world.  

From Malta to the Mall of America, I am continually inspired by you, the many talented spa owners, estheticians and distributors across the globe. This year has been an exciting, invigorating, and inspiring journey. I’d like to share with you some of the highlights:   

In February, I traveled to Malta to host a Master Class with our partner, Makiba Essence and then travelled to Bangkok, Thailand to host training for over 100 professionals to launch the new Repêchage® Peel and Glow Facial and introduce attendees to the Repêchage® Red-Out® Facial with Seaweed Extract and Silver for Sensitive Skin.   We were delighted to be the guests of our Thailand distributor, PBC Marketing Co Ltd., and Holistic Spa and Beauty Co., Ltd.

March found Repêchage front and center at the 2018 International Esthetics, Cosmetics, & Spa Conference (IECSC) at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York, NY. Show attendees gathered to experience the new Repêchage® Peel and Glow Facial. As Chairman of CIDESCO Section U.S.A, I also presented classes to over 120 skin care professionals for CIDESCO classes. We also launched the Peel and Glow Facial experience at America’s Beauty Show, in Chicago, IL later that month.

Then, it was on to Italy to launch the Italian edition of my spa business book, Success at Your Fingertips: How to Succeed in the Skin Care Business, at Cosmoprof Bologna.

In May, Repêchage® welcomed over 150 skincare and spa professionals from over 20 countries and the USA to the Repêchage® 20th Annual International Conference for Salon & Spa Professionals at the SECOND event space in NYC.   Here, we launched the new professional express facials, the Repêchage® Red-Out® Express Soothing Facial, Repêchage® Biolight® Express Brightening Facial, and three new retail sheet masks: Repêchage® Red-Out® Soothing Sheet Mask, Repêchage® Biolight® Brightening Sheet Mask, and Repêchage® Lamina Lift™ Hydrating Seaweed Mask.  We also unveiled the reformulated and expanded seaweed and mineral-based Repêchage® Perfect Skin Liquid Foundation Collection, now in ten shades to truly suit every skin tone and housed in a new, chic, redesigned bottle.

Repêchage® hosted a Master Class for Salon and Spa Professionals the following day, May 8. On this day, Repêchage® Professional Skin Care was also one of five New Jersey companies honored at the Association of Corporate Growth (ACG) NJ 2018 Corporate Growth Conference & Awards event at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, NJ.

In June, Repêchage® launched the new professional express treatments and Perfect Skin Liquid Foundation at Premiere Orlando and then, later that month, at IECSC Las Vegas. Professionals also joined Repêchage® for the introduction of the Glow and Go Massage and Mask Facial Bar Services, a new concept that combines express sheet masks with effective, customized facial massage services. 

Repêchage® launched the Repêchage Glow and Go Facial Massage and Mask Facial Bar Services concept at Face and Body Northern California in August, and then I travelled to Seattle, WA to join Stacie Bowie, Master Stylist and Owner of Bowie Salon and Spa, for a series of exclusive events to introduce the new massage and mask concept to her staff and clientele.

From Seattle to Stockholm!  Later in September, I traveled to Sweden to attend the 66th CIDESCO World Congress & Exhibition, then travelled back to the States in early October for the BNY Mellon Wealth Management Seminar

In October, I travelled to Milan, Italy where Repêchage® and Repêchage® distributor Euracom hosted the How to Be Successful in Professional Skin Care Conference at Esthetiworld by Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna.  Over 150 Italian beauty professionals gathered at this exclusive event to learn about the latest information and treatments affecting the skin care industry.  Esthetiworld awarded the Repêchage® Red-Out® Facial with Seaweed Extract and Silver for Sensitive Skin with the 2018 EsthetiAward for best treatment for sensitive skin.  After the Conference, I hosted a two day Master Class and Hands-On Workshop for beauty professionals in Milan.

I then travelled to Bucharest, Romania to join our exclusive Romanian distributor, Professional Brands, as they hosted Beauty Between the Sheets, a conference for over 40 beauty professionals held at the prestigious Athénée Palace Hilton on October 15.  I presented the latest information and treatments affecting the skin care industry, including information about the Repêchage® Glow and Go Facial Massage and Mask Facial Bar Services concept as well as met with influencers and editors for a one day beauty event the following day to experience the newest Repêchage skin care treatments.

Meanwhile, David joined Alec Baldwin, Wyclef Jean and Robert Alagna at the Lang Lang & Friends Annual Gala at Cipriani, NYC.  Every year we sponsor this event for this worthwhile organization whose mission is to educate, inspire and motivate the next generation of classical music lovers and performers. The foundation raised $1.6 million to go towards music education in the United States and China

Back in the United States, David, Shiri and I were so happy to join Brian David Douglas at the David Douglas Spa in Wilton Manors, FL to help celebrates the spa’s third anniversary and the official David Douglas Spa Day Recognition from the City of Wilton Manors.  I then travelled to Minnesota to host two classes for estheticians at the Mall of America in conjunction with the Beauty Certified Education Association.

At the end of November, I was a guest speaker at the 100 Years of Polish Women’s Achievements Event, organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York and the Polish and American Women Entrepreneurs Association of New York.  This was a personally very inspiring event, where top executives and entrepreneurs gathered to share best practices in international business and celebrate 100 years of Polish women’s rights and accomplishments.

In December, Repêchage® launched our new FUSION™ Face & Body Sugar Scrub Collection at the 2018 Power Lunch here at our headquarters in Secaucus, NJ.  This year’s guest speakers included Dr. Leon Alexander, President of Eurisko Design, Lois Christie, Owner of Christie & Co. Salon and Spa in NYC, and Gordon Miller, CEO of Hairbrained™. Their presentations reported on trending topics affecting the beauty industry.

Last, but not least, at this year’s Power Lunch, I also introduced one of the biggest innovations for 2019—the NEW! Repêchage® logo!  As we prepare for the next decade, we wanted to revise our logo to create a more modern look, one that reflects our evolution as a skin care brand. Repêchage® will continue to evolve to bring the very best in science, education and skin care treatments to you in 2019!
