Is Bar Soap Unsanitary? Myth Busted!

According to a recent article in The Times, ‘a bar of soap does not appear to transmit disease.’ The amount of bacteria found on a bar of soap used by multiple users is not breeding grounds for bacteria that would be hazardous, even with frequent use. This has been proven time and again by various scientists dating back to 1965.

Bar soap can sometimes harbor environmental bacteria but has never proven to be the culprit of infection. Furthermore, they continue to be championed as a major infection preventer. This simple ancient cleansing concept remains a household staple and is not to be thought of any less than liquid soap. In fact, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hold bar soap and liquid soap with equal merit for their ability to prevent infection through the act of consistently washing your hands.

Bar Soap is not unsanitary, introducing the cloud bar- anti aging cleanser

With that said, we are very happy to welcome the latest addition to the Joanna Vargas Skincare product family, The Cloud Bar! This gentle cleansing bar is made of coconut for divine nourishment and chamomile to sooth the skin. It is the opposite of harsh and is in fact designed for sensitive skin. The Cloud Bar is also the perfect cleanser if you suffer from dryness. It can be used on a daily basis to stimulate collagen production and it is packed with anti-aging properties due to its simple and few key ingredients. Like our beloved Miracle Bar, this soap can be used on the face and body. We recommend it to anyone who is looking for anti-inflammatory properties in a cleanser or who wants to prevent dry skin while still achieving a thorough cleanse.

If you are unfamiliar with The Miracle Bar, it remains a favorite among our clients and a staple to the JV Skincare collection. The magic ingredient behind this powerful cleanser is charcoal, which can hold up to 1000 times its weight in toxins. It is the most detoxifying cleanser in our collection. If acne is a concern, this is the ultimate bar soap for you.

The fact that both of our bar soaps can be used on face and body is a major bonus, because not all soaps can be used for both. In fact, Joanna says using a body wash or soap on your face that is only intended for the body is one of the worst things you can do for your skin because it strips your face of its natural oils. Our bar soaps are also free of harmful ingredients that are commonly found in cleansing products. Learn more about the harmful habits you might be guilty of in the shower by clicking here.

How and when you are wash your face is also important in the land of skincare. In the short term, not being disciplined about washing your face can cause acne and enlarged pores. In the long term, premature aging. Learn more about how to properly cleanse your complexion by clicking here.

Moral of the story, bar soap is all the glory… Lather up and enjoy, germ free!
