DRDO Successfully Flight-Tests Man-Portable Anti-Tank Missile

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Saturday successfully flight-tested a low-weight man-portable anti-tank guided missile (MPATGM) from Ahmednagar range, officials said.

According to DRDO, all the mission objectives were met.

MPATGM is a third generation Man-Portable Anti-Tank Missile to be used by Infantry and Parachute battalions of the Indian Army developed by State-owned DRDO in partnership with Private sector company VEM Technologies Ltd which is helping in sub-system manufacturing for the DRDO.

From manufacturing of components, to systems integrator, VEM has developed AsiBal Anti Tank Guided Missile System, which could be a strong focus for import substitution.

Range: 2500 Meters

Tandem HEAT warhead with penetration of 750 to 850 mm

Dual mode, Day & Night Imaging Infra Red Seeker (MWIR)

Effective against stationary and moving targets

Default Top & Direct Attack

Compact Fire Control unit for Surveillance and Acquisition

Light weight in its class, total weight including Launcher, FCU & Missile ~18.5 Kg

Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has congratulated DRDO and other agencies involved in the mission.
