Robert De Niro Responds To Bomb Threat: Go Out And Vote

Robert De Niro has a simple message after he received an explosive device in the mail: vote.

The Hollywood mogul was caught up in a frightening news cycle this week when 13 explosive devices were sent to well-known Democrats and critics of Trump, according to the FBI. But on Friday, De Niro was not backing down. Instead, he was imploring people to respond with a non-violent form of protest.

“I thank God no one’s been hurt, and I thank the brave and resourceful security and law enforcement people for protecting us,” De Niro told Variety. “There’s something more powerful than bombs, and that’s your vote. People MUST vote!”

The package was sent to the offices of De Niro’s Tribeca Enterprises in Lower Manhattan. Along with De Niro, suspicious packages were sent to Barack and Michelle Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Sen. Cory Booker and former U.S. Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, among others.

On Friday, authorities arrested a man in connection with the packages. Newly appointed FBI Director Christopher Wray said that bombs were “not a hoax,” as some right-wing pundits claimed, and warned that there may still be some in the mail that haven’t arrived at their targets yet.
