Beekeeper’s Naturals on Bee Products for Health

I love this episode because it’s all about bees and how to protect and appreciate them for all they do. Today’s guest Carly Stein founded a company dedicated to doing exactly this. It’s called Beekeeper’s Naturals and I used their bee propolis spray nonstop this winter to keep the flu away. (I think it’s safe to say now without jinxing myself… it worked!)

In the face of a declining bee population, this is such an important topic to understand. Our planet would look completely different without bees and we’d lose many of the crops we know and love. I’m grateful to Carly for being here… let’s dive in!

Beekeeper’s Naturals: More Than Honey

Not only is Carly a beekeeper herself, she developed very innovative bee-made nutraceuticals that provide effective natural solutions to a lot of modern health problems. And it isn’t just honey, either. Honey has a lot of great benefits of its own, but Carly also explains how bee pollen and bee propolis can help fight illness, allergies, and poor nutrition. You can even use bee pollen as a pre-workout boost!

I also love Beekeeper’s Naturals because they have such a strong commitment to raising awareness and funds to help the bee cause in general. This interview helped me understand even more how important and fascinating bees really are, and steps we can take to make sure they stay around for our kids’ generation and beyond.

In This Episode You’ll Learn

  • the reason we are seeing bee populations decline
  • changes in pesticides and farming practices that are causing big problems for the bee
  • what will happen if the bee population continues to decline
  • an introduction to bee pollen and bee propolis and how to use them for allergies, nutrition, and more
  • how honey helps you sleep (and why)
  • why you should create a bee hotel in your backyard and how
  • how to find the only honey products that are third-party tested to be free of pesticides
  • what Aristotle has to do with bees
  • the unique honey you can substitute for cough syrup

Many Thanks to Today’s Podcast Sponsors

This podcast is brought to you by Four Sigmatic. Four Sigmatic has figured out how to get the benefits of mushrooms like chaga, lions mane, cordyceps and reishi into delicious instant drinks. Their coffee blends contain caffeine less than a normal cup of coffee, but don’t let this fool you. I have found that I get so much more focus and mental clarity from these mushroom blends than I do from regular coffee, and without the jitters. The addition of the mushrooms, which are considered nootropics, meaning that they are good for the brain makes these super food blends more effective and much healthier than just regular old coffee. I also love that many of their drink mixes are instant and packaged into individual servings so they are perfect for travel or on the go. If you’re listening to this, then you can get a special offer just for listeners of this podcast by going to wellnessmama.com/go/four-sigmatic.

This podcast is also brought to you by Homebiotic. We all know about our microbiome and most of us know about our oral microbiome and even our skin microbiome. But it’s easy to forget that we live in a microbial environment as well and our home environment influences our health too. The overuse of disinfectants and harsh cleansers has led to an overgrowth of less than optimal bacteria in many homes. Those of us with little kids have children sitting on the floor of our homes and interacting with that bacteria on a daily basis. So, my solution to this has been Homebiotic. This is a natural probiotic spray for the home that neutralizes odors, germs, and even mold. You can check it out at wellnessmama.com/go/home-biotic.
